ELASTIC - STRETCHY SKIN SYNDROME
Stretchy Skin syndrome also known as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a group of inherited disorders that weaken connective tissues.
Yin Danmai dermatologist E. Ehlers in 1901 and the French dermatologist HA Danlos report in 1908, so named for the two.
It is characterized by skin and blood vessel fragility, easy bruising and the formation of atrophic scars; skin elasticity over, the skin can be a very long stretch, several times more than normal, relaxed rapidly after restitution; joint activities over; bones, eyes and internal organs are also lesions.
It follows autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive and sex linked inheritance as per their types..
Based on clinical, genetic and biochemical defects in different divided into 11 types of the disease.
Collagen type V gene mutation causes nearly 50% of the typical cases of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome,
Homozygous or compound heterozygous COL1A2 mutations resulting in complete deficiency of the proa2(I) collagen chains are extremely rare.
Heterozygous mutations in the COL1A1 or COL1A2 gene encoding the a1 and a2 chain of type I collagen generally cause the arthrochalasis form of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome .
Many patientd died due to cardiac and other complication.
There is no treatment till date for this syndrome. —
